New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating his 75th birthday today. On this occasion, he is receiving birthday wishes from across the country. Union Agriculture Minister and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also extended his birthday wishes to PM Modi and shared an interesting and inspiring anecdote from their first meeting.
First Meeting: The 1992-93 Journey
Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that his first meeting with Narendra Modi took place in 1992-93. At that time, the BJP had decided to undertake an 'Ekta Yatra' (Unity March) from Kanyakumari to Srinagar. Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi was leading this march, and Narendra Modi was entrusted with the responsibility for the entire journey.
Shivraj Singh mentioned that this march was not only politically significant but also challenging in terms of security and organization. The objective of this march was to spread the message of national unity across the country and to unite party workers.
The Challenge of Hoisting the Tricolor at Lal Chowk
The Union Agriculture Minister explained that at that time, terrorism was rampant in the Kashmir Valley. Hoisting the tricolor at Lal Chowk seemed almost impossible. Despite this, under Narendra Modi's leadership and management skills, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi managed to hoist the tricolor at Lal Chowk on January 26.
Shivraj Singh said, "I was also a part of that journey and for the first time, I saw Modi ji very closely. He possessed a determination, passion, and spirit to ensure the tricolor was indeed unfurled at Lal Chowk." This anecdote symbolizes his leadership qualities and his perseverance in the face of adversity.
Disappointment Among Workers
Shivraj Singh further elaborated that for security reasons, ordinary workers were not permitted to go to Lal Chowk. This left thousands of workers disappointed and angry. This situation was very sensitive for Narendra Modi.
He said, "For the first time, I saw how sensitive Modi ji, who was known for his strict discipline and firm resolve, was as a human being. He did not sleep the entire night and sat there weeping. He was pained and saddened that his fellow workers could not witness the unfurling of the tricolor at Lal Chowk."
