Sultanpur. Amidst the festive fervor of Durga Puja, stray cattle have exacerbated people's problems in the city. In many areas, these cattle were seen roaming on roads, alleys, and paths leading to worship sites, disrupting vehicle movement and causing inconvenience to people.
Glimpses of the Incidents
Stray animals, often with injuries, were seen roaming in several neighborhoods and intersections, bothering devotees and passersby.
With cattle present on paths around Durga Puja pandals, devotees were seen hastily rushing away.
Organizers stated that it was not easy for them to manage the cleanliness and security arrangements of the routes, including regulating vehicle movement.
Local residents complain that these animals often persisted throughout the night and were still visible in the same manner until morning.
Administration and Response
The Municipal Council had already launched a 'Cattle-Free Campaign,' in which sanitation workers are tasked with catching stray cattle roaming in urban areas at night. However, during such events, local residents are questioning the role and intensity of this campaign — 'Was it sufficient?'
The Municipal Chairperson stated that several teams for catching animals are active day and night, but the influx of cattle from external areas has not stopped.
During festival times, such incidents can pose a major challenge to safety and order. Proactive preparations are essential to deal with such situations.
