Navratri Concludes with Devotion: Maa Durga Idols Immersed in Sultanpur
Last Updated: 6 hour ago

Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh — The sacred festival of Navratri is concluding today with devotion and faith. Idols of Maa Durga were ceremoniously immersed today in the city's rivers and reservoirs. Devotional processions, originating from local temples, remained on the city streets until night, and finally, devotees gathered peacefully at the banks.

Key Scenes

Security arrangements were tightened at the banks since morning, with police and local volunteers jointly managing the arrangements.

Idols were brought to the ghats one by one, where they were immersed in water after chanting of mantras and aarti.

Devotees offered flowers, rice, and water, and the atmosphere became devotional with chants of “Jai Mata Di.”

Particularly noteworthy was the participation of small children and the elderly — many women carried puja materials to the ghats in traditional attire.

Administration and Security

Police kept a continuous watch in the immersion areas — traffic was controlled, and barricading was done for crowd management. Sanitation workers and Water Resources Department teams at the ghats made special efforts to keep the water clean.

From an environmental protection perspective, several religious and social organizations called for the use of eco-friendly idols.

Emotional Moments

Some devotees had tears in their eyes, while others clicked photos with their families. This immersion evoked a unique sense of peace and heartfelt connection among the people. The vibrancy of the idols returning after years, the songs, bhajans, and collective devotion proved that this festival is not just a ritual, but also an emotional experience.
