Tarannum Jahan Eludes Police in Lucknow Religious Conversion Case

Police are continuously striving to apprehend Tarannum Jahan, the primary accused in the religious conversion case and wife of Usman Ghani, owner of SS Mall, but she has so far eluded capture.

Lucknow: In its investigation into the recent religious conversion case that surfaced in the Madanpur police station area of Uttar Pradesh, the police have so far been unsuccessful in apprehending the main accused, Tarannum Jahan. She is the wife of Usman Ghani, owner of SS Mall, and is accused of influencing several young women towards religious conversion. Police, through SOG and local station forces, are continuously conducting raids to ascertain her whereabouts, but she is consistently changing her location, thereby evading the authorities.

Challenges in Police Arrest

Considering the gravity of the case, the police have already arrested Usman Ghani's brother, Israfil, and the mall manager, Shakeel Ansari, and sent them to jail. However, Tarannum's apprehension continues to be a challenge. According to sources, she is not in contact with her relatives or family members, which has made it difficult to locate and arrest her.

The police are consistently exerting pressure on the accused's family members and relatives to assist in bringing her before the authorities. Nevertheless, no concrete breakthrough has been made thus far.

Anticipatory Bail Hearing

Tarannum's anticipatory bail hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Fast Track Court II. On the same day, the regular bail hearing for Gauhar Ali, an accused from the Khakhundu police station area, will also take place. Public attention is focused on both proceedings, and the police are maintaining vigilance. Initially, a case was not formally registered in this particular religious conversion matter. Subsequently, Sadar MLA Dr. Shalabh Mani Tripathi directly brought the issue to the attention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after which the police officially registered a case. The Chief Minister continues to monitor this case closely, and the police have been directed to conduct a thorough investigation.

Several young women involved in the case have alleged that they were subjected to pressure and instigation for religious conversion. Some of these young women are apprehensive about speaking before the police.
One particular young woman, residing near Parshuram Chowk, had been completely brainwashed, but with the assistance of the police and her family, she was brought to a safe environment. She informed her family that numerous other girls were also being influenced towards religious conversion.

Who is Tarannum Jahan?

Tarannum Jahan, wife of SS Mall owner Usman Ghani, is identified as the main accused in this case. She is alleged to have collaborated with her husband to instigate young women towards religious conversion. Police report that Tarannum is persistently changing her location, which is impeding her arrest.
