Tata Steel has completed the acquisition of the remaining 0.01% stake in its subsidiary Tata Steel Colors Private Limited (TSCPL), making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
Tata Steel said in an exchange filing on Thursday that it has acquired 100% shareholding in its subsidiary. Earlier, the company held approximately 99.99% stake, which has now been increased to 100%. With this acquisition, Tata Steel has established full ownership and control over TSCPL, enabling greater alignment in operational and strategic decision-making.
In an official exchange filing dated April 9, 2026, Tata Steel stated that it acquired the remaining 10,000 equity shares of TSCPL, representing 0.01% stake. The shares were purchased from BlueScope Steel Asia Holdings Pty Ltd for approximately ₹0.03 crore. Each share had a face value of ₹10. Following the acquisition, Tata Steel’s shareholding in TSCPL increased from 99.99% to 100%.

The transaction was completed under a share purchase agreement dated November 12, 2025, in compliance with all terms and conditions. Tata Steel Colors Private Limited was previously known as Tata Bluescope Steel Private Limited. The company operates in the coated steel products segment and forms a part of Tata Steel’s value-added products portfolio.
According to experts, achieving 100% ownership in a subsidiary enables faster decision-making, greater operational transparency, and a more streamlined corporate structure. For Tata Steel, this move is aligned with its focus on strengthening its presence in the value-added products and coated steel segment.
Full ownership allows the company to exercise more effective control over its business operations. Tata Steel Managing Director T. V. Narendran recently stated that the company is expanding its production capacity in response to rising steel demand in India. Speaking at an event organised by the All India Management Association, he said that demand for steel is increasing due to the acceleration in infrastructure and construction activities across the country.
He also clarified that the company is not currently planning any major mergers or acquisitions.
