Thousands of candidates have arrived in Lucknow ahead of the Uttar Pradesh constable recruitment examination, with large crowds gathering across the city as aspirants from different districts reached the state capital a day before the test. Railway stations, bus terminals, parks and public spaces remained crowded late into the night as candidates prepared for the examination.
The largest gathering was reported at Charbagh Railway Station, where a continuous influx of candidates arriving by train kept the station premises packed until late at night. In view of the heat and humidity, coolers were installed at the station and arrangements were made for cold drinking water. Additional water tankers and refreshment centres were also deployed to assist passengers and candidates.
Many candidates travelled hundreds of kilometres to reach Lucknow. For economically weaker candidates, staying in hotels or lodges was not feasible. To address this, the municipal corporation provided accommodation through night shelters operating across different parts of the city. Candidates were allowed to stay either free of charge or at nominal cost, and thousands spent the night at these facilities before preparing to leave for their examination centres in the morning.
Night shelters resembled examination camps as candidates revised books and notes, while others discussed examination strategies in groups. Some candidates were seen resting on the floor using their bags as pillows while awaiting the examination.
According to the administration, a special traffic management plan has been implemented for the examination. Additional buses and transport facilities have also been arranged to help candidates reach their examination centres on time. Police and administrative officials have been deployed at sensitive locations to prevent any disruption.
The constable recruitment examination is considered one of the largest recruitment examinations in Uttar Pradesh and attracts lakhs of candidates. As a result, examination cities experience a sharp increase in footfall during the examination period. In Lucknow, heavy movement of candidates was observed at railway stations, bus stands and along major roads.
Several candidates said they had been preparing for the examination for months. Some arrived after travelling overnight by train, while others used buses and private vehicles. Many candidates were accompanied by their parents, who will remain present outside examination centres to support them.
Given the intense heat, the administration has also placed medical teams on alert. First-aid facilities have been arranged at public locations and around major examination centres. Officials have advised candidates to drink sufficient water, reach their examination centres in advance and carry their admit cards and other required documents.
Ahead of the constable recruitment examination, the atmosphere across the state capital remains focused on the examination, with candidates visible at locations ranging from railway stations to night shelters. The administration is tasked with providing facilities for the large number of candidates, while aspirants prepare to convert their years of effort into examination performance.
