Tragedy at Avsaneshwar Mahadev Temple: Two Dead, Several Injured by Electrocution

A tragic incident occurred on Monday at the Avsaneshwar Mahadev Temple in the Haidergarh area of Barabanki district, Uttar Pradesh. A sudden surge of electricity through the temple premises resulted in the painful death of two devotees, while several others were injured. Panic ensued at the scene following the accident. The injured devotees were transported via ambulance to the Haidergarh Community Health Center (CHC), where many were discharged after receiving first aid. However, five individuals with serious injuries are still receiving treatment at the district hospital.

Power Line Snapped Due to Monkey Activity

District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi stated that some monkeys were jumping on the power lines near the temple premises, causing a high-voltage wire to break and fall onto the temple's tin shed. This led to an electrical current spreading throughout the complex, resulting in the tragic accident. Upon receiving information about the incident, senior administration and police officials arrived at the scene and initiated relief efforts. A significant number of devotees were present at the temple, but the situation was brought under control in a timely manner.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Expresses Grief

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the accident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He wished for the speedy recovery of the injured and announced financial assistance of five lakh rupees each to the families of the devotees who lost their lives in the accident. The Chief Minister has directed the district administration to ensure that all the injured receive the best possible treatment and that there is no negligence in the relief efforts.

According to the Chief Medical Officer, a total of 29 injured devotees were sent to different health centers—nine of whom were referred to Trivedi Ganj and six to Kothi CHC. The administration is continuously monitoring the situation, and a review of the security of the temple premises is also underway.
