Especially in the hilly states, roads are getting damaged due to heavy rainfall, houses are getting flooded, and people are facing difficulties. In this context, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the monsoon is now gradually starting to recede.
According to the Meteorological Department, the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon has commenced from some parts of western Rajasthan. This year, the monsoon is withdrawing earlier than usual, whereas its withdrawal from Rajasthan typically occurs around September 17. The withdrawal of the monsoon from the entire country is generally considered to be around October 15.
Early Withdrawal of Monsoon
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the withdrawal of the monsoon has begun from some parts of western Rajasthan. Generally, the date for the monsoon's withdrawal in Rajasthan is considered to be around September 17, while the average date for the monsoon's withdrawal from the entire country is October 15. This is the first time since 2015 that the monsoon is departing earlier than usual.
It is noteworthy that in 2015 as well, the monsoon withdrawal had started from September 4. This time too, an active phase of the monsoon will continue in many parts of the country, and its impact will be visible on farmers, their crops, and the general public.
Red Alert for Heavy Rainfall in Mumbai
Normal life in Mumbai was affected on Sunday due to continuous rainfall. Waterlogging occurred in many areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad. The IMD has warned of the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by b winds and lightning in these regions. Wind speeds could reach up to 30-40 kilometers per hour. People have been advised to take necessary precautions due to the rain and flooding.
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall may occur in parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat in the next 2-3 days. Meanwhile, there will be cloud movement throughout the day in Delhi-NCR, but the chances of rain are low. Rainfall is expected in the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh, while the water levels in the rivers are gradually receding. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in some districts of Bihar and Jharkhand.
