Philippines: Tropical Storm 'Ko-Me' has wreaked havoc in the Philippines, resulting in at least 25 deaths so far. The storm made landfall in the town of Agno, Pangasinan province, on Thursday night. At that time, wind speeds reached up to 165 kilometers per hour. However, by Friday morning, the storm's intensity had decreased somewhat, and wind speeds had reduced to 100 kilometers per hour.

Devastation from Floods and Landslides

The storm caused sudden floods and landslides in many areas, resulting in significant loss of life and property. According to the disaster management department, most of the deaths were caused by drowning, falling trees, landslides, and electrocution. In addition, eight people are still missing and search operations are underway. However, officials have clarified that none of these deaths were directly caused by Tropical Storm 'Ko-Me' itself, but rather by the adverse conditions it created.

Full Force Applied to Relief Efforts

Prioritizing relief and rescue operations, the government has deployed thousands of soldiers, police forces, coast guard personnel, fire departments, and volunteers to the affected areas. All of these are working in teams to move people stranded in the affected villages to safer locations. According to the weather department, rain and b winds are likely to persist for the next few days, which could worsen the situation.
