Akhilesh Yadav Mosque Meeting: The controversy surrounding the political meeting chaired by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at the prominent mosque on Sansad Marg is intensifying. Not only political parties, but now Muslim organizations have also raised b objections to this meeting. In particular, the All India Muslim Jamaat has termed this incident as against the principles of Islam, accusing it of violating the sanctity of the mosque.

Political Meeting in Mosque Sparks Major Controversy

Last week, a meeting was organized at the Sansad Marg mosque with Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav, MP Zia Ur Rahman Burke, and other leaders in attendance. This meeting was entirely political, during which discussions were held on the Samajwadi Party's upcoming programs, strategies, and electoral issues.

As soon as the video and pictures of this meeting went viral on social media, the BJP and other political parties reacted sharply to it. Now, influential religious organizations like the All India Muslim Jamaat have also bly objected to it.

Muslim Organization Calls it Anti-Islamic Act

Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta demanding the removal of Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi, the Imam of the Sansad Marg mosque, from his post. Maulana Razvi says that making a mosque a platform for politics is completely against Islamic Sharia and traditions.

He wrote that mosques should only be used for worship, education, and spiritual activities. Political meetings tarnish the dignity and sanctity of the mosque.

Questions also Raised on Women and 'Indecent Clothing'

The letter also alleges that some people who attended the meeting were dressed in a manner that was not in accordance with Islamic norms. Maulana Razvi said, "Women also attended this meeting, while there are special rules for entering the mosque according to Sharia. The attire of some people was also indecent, which is contrary to the pure environment of the mosque."

The BJP has also cornered the Samajwadi Party on this issue. Party spokespersons have alleged that using religious places for vote bank politics is highly condemnable. The BJP has also demanded that the Election Commission and other concerned agencies investigate this meeting.

Amidst the controversy, there has been no formal reaction from the Sansad Marg mosque administration so far. However, questions are being raised about the Imam of the mosque, Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi, as to why he allowed this meeting to be held in the mosque. Muslim organizations say that religious leaders should stay away from politics so that the dignity of mosques is maintained.
