Faridabad police are investigating a late-night road accident near the Badkhal Flyover on the National Highway that left two people dead and one injured.
The accident occurred when three people were travelling on a motorcycle from Ballabhgarh towards Delhi. An unidentified vehicle allegedly collided with the motorcycle, causing the riders to be thrown onto the road. Local residents alerted the police and ambulance services. By the time police arrived, a man and a woman had died, while the third person was taken to hospital in serious condition.
According to the preliminary police investigation, the accident was caused by a collision with an unidentified vehicle. The driver reportedly fled the scene after the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the impact was loud, drawing nearby people to the accident site. Traffic on the highway was affected for some time following the incident. Police reached the location, managed the situation and removed the damaged motorcycle from the road to restore normal traffic movement.
Police officials said the identities of the deceased man and woman have not yet been established. Investigators also found that the motorcycle involved in the accident did not have a registration number.
The absence of vehicle registration details has made it difficult for police to gather information about the deceased and the injured person. Authorities are attempting to identify them with the help of nearby police stations, surrounding areas and missing persons records. Police also plan to question the injured individual once his condition improves.
Police have intensified efforts to identify the unidentified vehicle and its driver. CCTV footage from cameras installed on and around the Badkhal Flyover is being examined.
Investigators are trying to determine which vehicles passed through the route at the time of the accident. Officials believe the footage may help identify the vehicle involved. Police are also questioning local residents and other potential witnesses to gather further information.
Police have taken both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem examination. Officials said the report may provide greater clarity regarding the cause of the accident and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The injured person remains under treatment, and doctors are monitoring his condition. Police said identifying the deceased and tracing the absconding driver remain their priorities. The investigation is continuing, and further action will be taken based on the available evidence.
