A 20-year-old man from Udaipur, Arvind Singh Sisodia, died after a refrigerator compressor exploded in the kitchen of a hotel in Rajkot, Gujarat. The compressor fragment struck him on the head, causing critical injuries.
According to information received, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a hotel located on Bhavnagar Road in Rajkot. A refrigerator compressor kept in the hotel kitchen suddenly exploded with a loud blast. Eyewitnesses said the explosion was so powerful that a part of the compressor was thrown several feet away.
Arvind Singh Sisodia, who was working at the hotel at the time of the incident, was hit by the compressor fragment. The piece struck his head directly, leaving him seriously injured. The incident caused panic within the hotel premises.
His co-workers immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, his condition continued to deteriorate due to the severity of the injuries. After examination, doctors declared him dead. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing people running in panic after the explosion.
The deceased, Arvind Singh Sisodia, was a resident of Jetawada Satka village in the Phalasia area of Udaipur district. He was the eldest member of his family and had moved to Rajkot about a month ago in search of employment. He was working at the hotel along with his two cousins.
It is reported that his father, Punsingh, died a year ago. Following his father's death, family responsibilities fell on Arvind. He had started working to support the family's financial condition.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and began an investigation. The case is being treated as an accidental death in the preliminary inquiry. Police are attempting to determine the cause of the refrigerator compressor explosion.
After completion of the postmortem process, the body was handed over to the family. Relatives are bringing the body to Udaipur for the last rites.
