Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has intensified efforts to keep the party united amid growing political activity surrounding “Operation Tiger.” As part of these efforts, a key meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) Members of Parliament has been convened in New Delhi at 11 a.m. today.
The meeting will be held at the party’s Parliament House office in New Delhi. According to sources, two of the six MPs described as rebels remain in contact with the party leadership and may attend the meeting.
Party leadership has continued efforts to engage with its MPs amid the ongoing internal dispute within the Shiv Sena (UBT). The party maintains that all MPs have not completely distanced themselves from the organization and that dialogue within the party is continuing. However, political discussions have intensified over reports that some MPs may adopt a different position and could be inclined toward the current ruling alliance politics in Maharashtra. The developments have generated fresh political activity at both the state and national levels.
Following the Delhi meeting, the party has also stepped up organizational activity in Maharashtra. A meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs has been scheduled for 4 p.m. on June 22 at the party’s Shivalaya office in Mumbai. The meeting is being organized to strengthen the party’s strategy and unity at the state level.
The current situation is being viewed as politically challenging for the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction. Amid speculation regarding a possible rebellious stand by some MPs, the party leadership is continuing to formulate strategies aimed at preventing an organizational split. The series of meetings indicates ongoing efforts to keep elected representatives united on a common platform.
Political developments gained further momentum after some Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs separately met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Senior party leaders, including Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai and Sanjay Raut, urged the Speaker to ensure that any decision is taken in accordance with constitutional provisions, applicable rules and directions issued by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, MPs from the rebel group have claimed that they have the support of six of the party’s nine Lok Sabha MPs. The claim has added to speculation about a possible division within the party, although there has been no official confirmation.
According to sources, a group of rebel MPs may soon formally meet the Lok Sabha Speaker. During the meeting, they may seek recognition for a separate faction and raise a proposal for a possible merger with the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. If such a development takes place, it could significantly alter the political landscape in Maharashtra.
