India Women registered a 95-run victory over the Netherlands in their second match of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, delivering a dominant all-round performance at Headingley in Leeds. Batting first, India posted 209 for 5 in 20 overs, their highest-ever total in Women’s T20 World Cup history, before bowling out the Netherlands for 114 in 17.3 overs.
After being asked to bat first, India received a b start from openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. The pair added 115 runs for the first wicket in 70 balls, laying the foundation for a substantial total.
Shafali scored 55 runs off 38 deliveries, including 10 fours, while Mandhana continued the momentum with a 74-run knock from 47 balls featuring 11 fours and a six. Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 19 runs from 13 balls as India maintained a brisk scoring rate throughout the innings.
Yastika Bhatia departed early in the middle order, but captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma added quick runs in the closing stages. Richa remained unbeaten on 20, while Deepti struck a six and a four late in the innings to help India finish on 209 for 5.
Chasing 210, the Netherlands began steadily as Heather Siegers and Phebe Molkenboer added 34 runs for the opening wicket. However, Indian bowlers applied pressure through the middle overs and claimed wickets at regular intervals.
Netherlands captain Babette de Leede top-scored with 28 runs from 27 balls, but lacked support from the rest of the batting line-up. The side was eventually bowled out for 114 in 17.3 overs.
The closing stages of the innings saw a dramatic collapse. The Netherlands were 113 for 5 after the 16th over, but lost their remaining wickets in the next nine deliveries while adding only one more run.
For India, Shree Charani led the bowling attack with figures of 4 for 19. Shafali Verma also made an impact with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 20 runs, while Nandini Sharma claimed two wickets.
The victory moved India to the top of Group A in the tournament standings.
