NDA's Victory in Vice Presidential Election

In the Vice Presidential election, Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan (CP Radhakrishnan), the candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), secured victory. He defeated retired Justice Buchireddy Sudarshan Reddy (B. Sudarshan Reddy), the candidate of the opposition alliance INDIA Alliance. On September 10, the day after the results were declared, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wrote on the social media platform X that the opposition had participated in the Vice Presidential election with complete unity and their performance was respectable. He stated that the joint candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy secured 40% of the votes, whereas in 2022, the opposition had only received 26% of the votes. Ramesh termed the BJP's arithmetic victory as a defeat both morally and politically, adding that the ideological battle continues unabated.

Keshav Prasad Maurya's Taunt

Responding to Jairam Ramesh's reaction, Keshav Prasad Maurya derided Congress's 'moral victories'. Maurya wrote that Congress has mastered the art of finding a moral victory in every defeat. He also added that this spirit of Congress should continue in the future. Maurya humorously remarked that since 2014, Congress has won so many moral elections that even political and electoral pundits are hesitant to keep a record of it.

Maurya further stated that Congress's self-proclaimed intellectual, Jairam Ramesh, has once again termed their defeat in the Vice Presidential election as a 'moral victory'. He claims that Congress should thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these moral victories, as he is the reason they are continuously setting new records of moral victories.
