The Uttar Pradesh government is consistently working towards developing religious sites across the state to promote religious tourism. In this vein, 28 religious sites within the Agra division will be revitalized. For this purpose, a sum of ₹23.75 crore has been sanctioned under the Chief Minister Tourism Site Development Scheme. This amount is part of the larger budget of ₹395 crore allocated for the development of religious and cultural sites throughout the state for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The government's initiative aims to beautify religious places, improve basic amenities, and encourage local tourism, thereby increasing the popularity of these sites and creating local employment opportunities.
Development Works for Temples in Firozabad and Tundla with ₹1 Crore Each
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that the total estimated cost of the 28 projects approved in the Agra division is ₹359.85 crore. Necessary tasks such as land selection, DPR (Detailed Project Report) preparation, site inspection, and soil testing will be carried out to implement these projects. A technical team of experts will be sent to the concerned districts for this purpose.
In Firozabad district, ₹1 crore each has been approved for the development of Goga Ji Kali Mandir and Pasine Wale Hanuman Ji Mandir in Tundla. Furthermore, a budget of ₹2 crore has been sanctioned for the tourism development of Brahmdev, Shivji, and Bajrangbali temples in the Shikohabad area, and ₹50 lakh has been approved for the Awaganga temple.
Temples and Parks in Tundla-Shikohabad to Get a New Look
In the Tundla area, ₹1 crore has been sanctioned for the Narkhi Shiv Temple, ₹1.50 crore for another Shiv Temple, and ₹1.5 crore for the Radha Krishna Temple. In addition, a budget of ₹2 crore each has been allocated for the Kali Mata Temple and the Hanuman Temple.
₹2 crore and ₹1 crore have been sanctioned for the Jaymai Mata Temple and the Ramakrishna Dham Temple, respectively. ₹1 crore has been approved for Ambedkar Park, ₹1.5 crore for Ramkanth Ashram, ₹1.25 crore for another Radha Krishna Temple, ₹1 crore for Ved Upvan Park, and ₹1 crore for the development of Neem Karoli Baba's birthplace.
₹50 lakh has been separately sanctioned for curation work at the Glass Museum in Firozabad.
Religious Sites in Agra District to Also Receive a New Identity
Development work is also proposed for several religious sites in the Agra district under tourism development. Beautification and development work will be carried out at Kaila Mata Temple, Sheetla Kund Dham Temple, Sati Mata Temple, Prithvi Nath Mahadev Temple, Baba Deendayal Dham Temple, and ancient temples of the Nath sect in the Itaura assembly constituency.
Additionally, the tourism development of the historic Guru ka Taal Gurudwara complex located in the Agra North assembly constituency has also been approved. Furthermore, the renovation of the old building of the tourism office is also included in the plan.
