Varanasi: SH-120 Widening Prompts 10-Day Daily Power Shutdown from Dec 3

Varanasi faces a 10-day daily power shutdown (Dec 3-12, 11 AM-3 PM) for SH-120 road widening. Affected areas include Maheshpur, Kotwan, Madhauli. Residents advised to prepare.

To expedite the widening work of SH-120 in Varanasi, the electricity department has announced a continuous 10-day scheduled shutdown from December 3rd to December 12th. During this period, power supply will be interrupted daily for four hours, from 11 AM to 3 PM.

According to information, the SH-120 route connecting Mohansarai to Deoria is being expanded over an 11.18-kilometer stretch. During the road widening, electricity poles, wires, and transformers are obstructing the route at several locations, necessitating their removal and re-installation at new sites. For this reason, the decision has been made to shut down power daily to facilitate the relocation of the electrical infrastructure.

During the power cut, villages and towns connected to the Maheshpur DPH, Maheshpur-Kotwan, and Madhauli feeders will be affected. These include Maheshpur, Kotwan, Madhauli, several settlements along the Chakia road, and agricultural areas. Residents in these areas may experience inconvenience for four hours with fans, motors, water supply, household appliances, and small business operations.

The construction agency and the electricity department have stated that removing the electrical infrastructure is necessary to complete the road widening work on time. To avoid any accidents during the work, the power supply will be shut down strictly during the stipulated period.

Officials have appealed to the public to complete essential tasks in advance within the specified time and to make alternative arrangements in view of the power cut. Furthermore, considering the potential increase in traffic pressure around the construction site, the police have also been instructed to make necessary management arrangements.
