X (Twitter) Tests New 'Most Liked' Post Feature to Boost User Engagement

Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is testing a new feature that will allow users to see which posts are garnering the most likes. The aim of this feature is to increase user engagement and highlight popular content. In the initial phase, this feature is being offered to selected users in the United States.

What is the new feature and who is it for?

X has started a new experiment through 'Community Notes' in which some users will be informed that a post is getting a large number of likes right from the start. This has been introduced as a pilot test and currently only selected contributors in the United States have access to this feature.

These users will receive a notification as a “callout” on some posts, which will indicate that the post is trending in terms of likes. After this, the contributors will be able to rate that post and also provide feedback on whether it is actually liked by broader user groups or not.

How will the 'most liked' post be determined?

This new system is not only based on the number of likes, but it also checks whether a post is liked equally by users with different thinking and backgrounds. If a post receives positive ratings, a message will appear on it — "This post is liked by various user groups".

Along with this, a special notification will also be sent to the contributors whose opinion was helpful in evaluating that post, so that they can be appreciated for their participation.

'Got Likes' Section is Launching

A key part of this feature of X will be a new section called 'Got Likes', which will go live on the Community Notes website. This section will display all the posts that have received a large amount of appreciation and positive feedback from users.

This will help users understand which content is truly impactful on the platform and which post has created good reach in different communities.

Engagement on Social Media Will Get a New Dimension

This new feature of X is not only based on statistics, but it is a step towards making the use of social media more transparent and based on collective participation. The platform does not want to be limited to just "trending" figures anymore, but wants users to identify and prioritize the content themselves, which connects different sections of the society together.

With this feature, posts that may be left behind in the algorithm but are genuinely liked by ordinary users may also get better recognition.

X has indicated that if this pilot test is successful, then in the coming times this feature will also be made available to users in other countries. This is an effort to further strengthen community participation on social media, in which users will decide which content is most worthy of recognition.
