YouTube has launched a new discovery tool, 'Hype,' for creators in India. This tool is specifically designed for small and emerging content creators to provide them with greater exposure and a better opportunity to reach their audience.
Technology: YouTube has launched a new and very special discovery tool, 'Hype,' for small and emerging content creators in India. This feature is specifically designed for creators who have between 500 and 500,000 subscribers. Through this feature, YouTube is giving small content creators the opportunity to get their videos seen by more people.
Prior to this, the YouTube Hype feature was released for beta testing in Turkey, Taiwan, and Brazil. After successful testing in these countries, the company has now rolled it out in India as well.
What is Hype and How Does it Work?
YouTube Hype is an interactive tool that allows users to "Hype" (promote) any small creator's video. It can be seen as a 'support system' through which content creators' videos will get more visibility and views.
- Users can now Hype a video, in addition to liking, sharing, and subscribing.
- A user can Hype any video up to three times in a week.
- Any video can be Hyped only within seven days of being published.
How Hype Points and the Leaderboard System Work?
Every time a user Hypes a video, that video receives points. The more Hype points a video gets, the higher it will appear on the YouTube Explore section's leaderboard. This leaderboard will include the top 100 Hype videos. Videos that receive more Hype will appear more frequently in the Explore section and Home Feed of other users. This will give small creators' videos the opportunity to gain more views, subscribers, and engagement.
Bonus Points Benefit for Small Creators
- YouTube also gives bonus points to small creators based on their subscriber count to provide them further support.
- For creators with fewer subscribers, each Hype point will be even more impactful.
- This way, new and small creators' videos can also easily move up in the leaderboard and Explore section.
- According to the company, the Hype feature is specifically designed to give hidden talent and small creators in the Indian YouTube community a chance to grow.
How will the Hype Feature Work in India?
In India, the Hype button will now appear in the new videos of all YouTube channels that have between 500 and 500,000 subscribers. When a viewer likes a video, they can support it by pressing the Hype button. This feature will particularly help new and small content creators come forward. It will also provide excellent exposure to those videos that may not have reached a wider audience until now.
Benefits of YouTube Hype
- Opportunity for small and new creators to grow quickly.
- More views and engagement for videos organically.
- A new and easy way for users to discover quality content.
- The culture of supporting small creators in the YouTube community will be strengthened.
