Bihar Politics Erupts: RJD Leader Compares Lalu Prasad Yadav to Gods, Sparks Controversy

Electoral activities are intensifying in Bihar, and amidst this, a controversial statement by RJD MLC Urmila Thakur has emerged as a political storm. During an event in Gaighat, Muzaffarpur, she declared RJD supremo and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav as the "living god of the Kali Yuga." Not only that, she compared Lalu Yadav to great personalities like Lord Shiva, Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, and Bhishma Pitamah from the stage.

No one can replace Lalu Yadav

While speaking at the unveiling of a BR Ambedkar statue, Urmila Thakur said, "There was one Lord Shiva, and the other living god in the Kali Yuga is Babu Lalu Prasad Yadav." She further added that just as no one could replace Lord Rama, Krishna, or Bhishma Pitamah, similarly, no one can replace Lalu Yadav in politics.

MLC Thakur didn't stop there. She emotionally stated, "Many men were born, but no one could take the place of Maryada Purushottam Rama. Many MLAs, MPs, ministers, governors, and prime ministers were made, but there was no one like Babu Lalu Prasad, nor will there be."

During this time, she also indirectly targeted the Congress, saying that those who were in power before 1990 would not be able to come back to power again.

Opposition Targets

This statement by Urmila Thakur has now gone viral on social media, and sharp political reactions are also coming in. While RJD supporters are calling it a symbol of reverence and respect for the party leader, the opposition parties have called it the 'pinnacle of sycophancy' and against the dignity of democracy.

The BJP and JDU have heavily criticized the RJD over this statement. The opposition says that the RJD now wants to contest elections by making their leaders gods.

Political chessboard for Bihar elections 2025 begins to be laid

Amidst the controversies, preparations for the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar have gained momentum. All political parties are ready to enter the field and are engaged in making strategies. Although the Election Commission has not yet announced the official dates, according to sources, polling is likely to be held in October or November.

In the last assembly elections in 2020, the NDA had won a majority, and JDU leader Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister. This time, there are possibilities of changing political equations again, and all parties have started making their own election strategies.

Eyes on public mood and the role of Lalu Yadav

Lalu Yadav's role is considered important in the electoral environment. In such a situation, this statement by MLC Urmila Thakur is not just political reverence, but is also considered a part of the election strategy. Now it remains to be seen how the public views this statement and whether the RJD benefits or suffers from it.
