Preparations for the Guru Purnima festival 2025 are in full swing at the renowned Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. This year's event will be celebrated with special grandeur and traditional fervor. The temple administration has announced that the Guru Purnima festival, scheduled for July 10th, will commence on July 4th with the start of a seven-day Shri Ram Katha.
This divine Shri Ram Katha will be held in the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan within the Gorakhnath Temple complex. Renowned storyteller Acharya Shri Shantanu Ji Maharaj, arriving from Prayagraj, will narrate the Shri Ramcharit to devotees daily from 3 PM to 6 PM. The culmination of the Katha, the Purnahuti, is scheduled for 11:30 AM on July 10th. Specifically on this day, the Katha will commence at 9 AM and continue until 11:30 AM, after which the main Guru Purnima rituals will begin.
CM Yogi to be Present
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present at the Gorakhnath Temple on the day of Guru Purnima. As the Peethadheeshwar of Gorakshpeeth, he will bless the disciples and devotees.
The main event will begin at 5 AM on July 10th, with traditional Rot offerings and worship to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ji. This will be followed by special worship of the deities and Samadhi sthals (resting places) located within the temple complex and a grand Aarti will be performed.
Bhajans and Bhandara to Enhance the Festival's Devotion
The main ceremony will take place from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, creating a devotional atmosphere through a Bhajan Sandhya (devotional music session). Following the ceremony, a grand Bhandara (community feast) will be organized from 12:30 PM, which is expected to be attended by a large number of devotees.
Yogi Kamalnath, the chief priest of the Gorakhnath Temple, stated that preparations for the entire event have been completed. All arrangements for security and convenience have been made by the temple administration, considering the anticipated large number of devotees.
This event not only revives the cultural heritage of the Guru-Shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition but also transmits positive energy within society through faith and devotion.
