A shocking case of marijuana trafficking has come to light in the Dhoolpet area of Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. Here, a trafficker attempted to deceive the police under the guise of religious faith, but his cunning plan did not last long. Based on a tip-off, when the police raided the accused's house, they recovered approximately 10 kilograms of marijuana hidden behind pictures of deities.
The accused has been identified as Rohan Singh, who used to procure marijuana from Odisha and supply it to various areas of Hyderabad—such as Gachibowli and Kukatpally. During the raid, the accused was found performing religious rituals and had created a completely religious atmosphere in the house to avoid suspicion.
Trafficking Under the Guise of Religious Symbols
The investigation revealed that Rohan Singh had been active in this illegal trade for quite some time and had used large pictures of deities to conceal the trafficking. The packets of marijuana were hidden behind these pictures in such a way that no one would suspect anything at first glance. Police officials said that the accused was not only trying to evade the law by misusing religious symbols, but was also playing with the faith of the society.
Likelihood of a Large Network
The police suspect that this case could be part of an organized trafficking network that procures marijuana from states like Odisha and supplies it to Telangana and other states. Based on the interrogation of Rohan Singh, the police have now started searching for several other suspects.
The Dhoolpet area has previously been notorious for drugs and illegal activities, but the way trafficking was carried out this time, "under the guise of faith," has also surprised the police. The recovered marijuana has been seized, and the accused has been taken into custody and is undergoing intensive interrogation.
The police say that they expect to reach the remaining members of the network soon and that more arrests may be made in this case. They have also indicated strict action against the misuse of religious symbols.
