Weather Forecast: This week, the monsoon has shown its various forms across the country, from Delhi-NCR to Himachal, Rajasthan, and South India. While some areas are experiencing refreshing showers, others are dealing with devastating rains that have increased people's difficulties. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for widespread rainfall across the country and heavy to very heavy rainfall in some states for the coming week.

Pleasant weather in Delhi-NCR, light rain to continue

The good news for Delhi-NCR is that the weather here is expected to be pleasant for the next week. People are getting relief from the heat due to the continuous light rain. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and showers from July 2nd to July 7th.

  • From July 3rd, the temperature may drop slightly, reaching a maximum of 33 degrees and a minimum of 27 degrees.
  • From July 4th to 6th, the temperature is expected to remain between 33 to 34 degrees, while the minimum temperature will be between 25 to 27 degrees.
  • On July 7th, light rain and a maximum temperature of 34 degrees are also expected.
  • However, due to the humidity level remaining at 85-90% from July 3rd to 7th, the humidity may increase, which could lead to people experiencing a sticky weather.

Heavy rainfall in Rajasthan, alert in several areas

The monsoon is having a b impact in Rajasthan this week. There is a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the south-eastern and southern districts. Light to moderate rain and heavy rain in some places may continue in eastern Rajasthan for the next week. There are also chances of light to moderate rain and heavy rain in some places in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions of western Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has advised the people here to be vigilant so that preparations can be made in the event of any disaster.

Devastation from cloudburst in Himachal, 10 people dead so far

The monsoon seems to be taking a severe form in Himachal Pradesh this time. The situation is very bad due to the cloudburst and flash floods in Mandi district. The death toll has reached 10 with five more bodies recovered till Tuesday, while 34 people are still missing. On Tuesday itself, 11 incidents of cloudburst and four flash floods were reported in the state. In addition, a major landslide was also reported, causing devastation in several villages.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several districts of Himachal from Friday to Sunday, with a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Weather conditions in other states

Heavy rainfall is also possible in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim for the next 6-7 days.

  • Heavy rainfall is also expected in Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, and central Maharashtra.
  • Heavy rainfall is expected in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions for the next seven days.
  • There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in several parts of Northeast India, including Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram.
  • Good rainfall may be recorded in some parts of the week in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Center alerts states

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that the risk of floods remains due to above-normal rainfall in the central parts of the country and the northern hilly states. Authorities in Uttarakhand, Himachal, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana, in particular, have been told to be prepared for any emergency. A forecast of below-normal rainfall has also been issued for many parts of eastern India and the southern peninsular states.

The Meteorological Department says that the monsoon will be active across the country in the first half of July. While heavy rains may disrupt life in North and Central India, normal rainfall will continue in many areas of South India for the next week.
