Box Office Report: 'Sitare Zameen Par' Soars, Outshining 'Housefull 5' with Emotional Storytelling

'Sitare Zameen Par' won hearts with its emotional content, earning ₹122.65 crore in 10 days, while the multi-starrer 'Housefull 5' stalled at ₹181.45 crore on its 23rd day. Content outperformed star power at the box office.

Box Office Report: While comedy and multi-starrer films have always dominated Bollywood, when serious and emotional films receive equal love from the audience, it changes the dynamics of the box office. This is precisely what happened this week. On one hand, Sajid Nadiadwala's much-awaited comedy franchise's next installment, 'Housefull 5,' failed to maintain its shine, while Aamir Khan's heart-touching film, 'Sitare Zameen Par,' not only brought tears to the audience's eyes but also took the lead in collections.

Aamir's 'Sitare Zameen Par': An Example of Emotion, Education, and Thought

Aamir Khan, who brings a social message with every film, has returned this time with a different and very sensitive subject. 'Sitare Zameen Par' is not just a film, but a mirror that reflects society's mindset. The film beautifully presents the emotions, struggles, and hidden potential of children struggling with neurological conditions like dyslexia.

Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film features Aamir Khan alongside Genelia D'Souza, Arush Dutta, Sanvit Desai, and several other child actors who have brought their characters to life. The film questions the education system while also showing who the real 'abnormal' is – the child or society?

'Sitare Zameen Par's' Box Office Flight

On the 10th day, which was Sunday, the film earned a magnificent ₹14.50 crore. The film has been receiving tremendous word-of-mouth publicity from the start, and families have particularly liked it. The film has so far collected ₹122.65 crore in India.

Talking about worldwide earnings, this figure has reached around ₹180 crore. The film's gross collection in India has reached approximately ₹140 crore, which shows how deeply content-based films resonate with the audience.

'Housefull 5': A Crowd of Stars, but the Story Faded

On the other hand, the comedy and confusion-filled film 'Housefull 5,' which is packed with big stars like Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and Sanjay Dutt, is now showing a slowdown at the box office on its 23rd day.

Although the film did well in the first week, the lack of novelty and sharpness in the story has gradually reduced the audience's interest.

23rd Day's Collection and Total Figures

'Housefull 5' earned only ₹0.5 crore on its 23rd day, which was Sunday. The film's total domestic collection so far has reached ₹181.45 crore.

Although the film has touched around ₹286 crore worldwide, and its gross collection in India has reached ₹216 crore. However, it was expected that the film would cross the net figure of ₹200 crore, which now seems like an unfulfilled dream.

Content vs. Star Power

This week's trend shows that a film doesn't get a long run at the box office based on star cast alone. The audience is now looking for stories that touch their hearts, give a message to society, and force them to think about some aspect.

Even though 'Housefull 5' came as a full entertainment package, it failed to hold the audience for long due to its old comedy style and convoluted story.
