Chandra Arya was born in Tumkur district of Karnataka, India. He moved to Canada in 2006 and was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2015 Canadian federal election. He subsequently won elections in 2019 and 2021. Arya also made a significant milestone by delivering a speech in Kannada, his mother tongue, in Parliament. In 2022, he became the first Member of Parliament in the Canadian House of Commons to speak in Kannada.
