Delhi Budget 2025-26: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the Assembly on Tuesday. This is the first time in 27 years that a BJP government in Delhi has presented the budget. The budget includes several significant announcements related to women, the poor, education, health, transportation, and trade. The Chief Minister termed it a "budget to improve Delhi's condition," stating that it is not merely a budget for roads, bridges, and corridors, but a budget for holistic development.

Major Announcements for Women and the Poor

- Delhi women will receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹2500.

- ₹210 crore has been allocated for pregnant women.

- The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister's Housing Scheme) will be implemented for slum dwellers, with an allocation of ₹20 crore.

- DUSIB (Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board) will receive ₹696 crore for slum development.

- 100 Atal Canteens will be opened, offering meals at ₹5. ₹100 crore has been allocated for this initiative.

Improvements in Health and Security

- Citizens will receive health insurance coverage up to ₹10 lakh.

- An additional insurance cover of ₹5 lakh has been added to the Jan Arogya Yojana (Public Health Scheme).

- 50,000 new CCTV cameras will be installed to strengthen security in the capital.

Focus on Education and Employment

- A scheme to provide free laptops to students will be launched.

- A new industrial and warehousing policy will be implemented in Delhi to boost trade and investment.

Significant Improvements in Road and Transportation Systems

- ₹3800 crore has been allocated for the development of Delhi's roads.

- ₹1000 crore will be provided to improve the city's connectivity.

Attack on the AAP Government

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, taking a jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said, "You built palatial residences; we will build homes for the poor." She accused the previous government of making only announcements without delivering tangible results. She also stated that the doors to trade and investment in Delhi will be reopened, benefiting small and large industries.
