BJP-led NDA Wins Resounding Victory in Assam's Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Elections

The saffron wave has once again swept through Assam's politics. In the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections, the BJP-led NDA achieved a resounding victory, winning 33 out of 36 seats.

Guwahati: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured a landslide victory in the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council elections in Assam. The alliance captured 33 out of the total 36 seats. According to the results declared by the Assam State Election Commission, Congress won only one seat.

BJP won 6 seats, while its ally, the Rabha Hasong Joutho Sangram Samiti, won the highest number of seats, securing 27. Additionally, two independent candidates emerged victorious.

Congress swept away in the NDA tsunami

According to the results released by the State Election Commission, Congress proved extremely weak in this council election. Despite its efforts, it managed to win only one seat, while the BJP and its allies virtually captured the entire landscape. BJP registered victories in key areas like Kothakuchi, Agia, Bondapara, Bamunigaon, and Silputa. The BJP candidate from Joyramkuchi was elected unopposed, indicating the b grassroots support for the NDA.

Tankeswar Rabha again becomes the people's choice

Tankeswar Rabha, the prominent face of the Rabha Hasong Joutho Sangram Samiti and Chief Executive Member (CEM), once again secured a resounding victory in his constituency. Contesting from No. 7 South Dudhnoi seat, he defeated Congress candidate Sanjib Kumar Rabha by a significant margin. Tankeswar Rabha received 7164 votes, while his rival received only 1593.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's message of gratitude

Following the election results, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude to the people, stating, "Assam has once again witnessed a saffron wave. The people of the Rabha Hasong Council have expressed their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tribal-friendly schemes and development initiatives. We thank them for this overwhelming support.”

This massive victory has further boosted the NDA's morale for the upcoming Panchayat elections, scheduled for May 2nd and 7th in two phases. Over 1.80 crore voters across the state will exercise their franchise in these elections.
