Following the Delhi Assembly election results, discussions regarding the Chief Minister's post have intensified. Initially, Pravesh Verma's name was prominently featured in this race, but recent reports suggest he may now be out of contention.

New Delhi: A week has passed since the Delhi Assembly election results were announced, yet the official declaration for the Chief Minister's post is still pending. It is anticipated that the swearing-in ceremony will be held on February 19th, coinciding with the formation of the new government. Meanwhile, significant news has emerged suggesting that Pravesh Verma, previously considered a potential candidate, might be excluded from the Chief Minister race.

According to sources, the BJP is now considering three prominent names: Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Jitendra Mahajan, and Rekha Gupta. One of them is likely to be chosen as Delhi's new Chief Minister.

When will Delhi's new Chief Minister be announced?

Speculation continues regarding the appointment of Delhi's new Chief Minister, and the public eagerly awaits the announcement. The BJP's top leadership is discussing the names of these three MLAs and a final decision is expected soon. It is anticipated that observers will be appointed within a day or two, followed by a meeting of the Legislative Party, where the official announcement of the CM's name will be made.

Furthermore, the party is also considering upcoming electoral equations. Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for the end of 2025, while Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Assembly elections are slated for the beginning of 2027. Therefore, the selection of Delhi's Chief Minister is taking into account regional and caste balance to strengthen the party's position in the upcoming elections.
