A massive fire at Basai Chowk in Gurugram reduced over 100 shanties to ashes. Fifteen fire engines battled the blaze for three hours before bringing it under control.
Gurugram Slum Fire: A massive fire broke out in the shanties near Basai Chowk in Gurugram around 6 AM on Saturday. Fueled by b winds, the fire quickly spread, engulfing over 100 shanties. Fortunately, the residents managed to escape safely before the fire consumed their homes, resulting in no casualties.
Hours of Struggle to Contain the Fire
Upon receiving reports of the fire, several fire department teams rushed to the scene. Initially, vehicles from Sector 37 fire station were dispatched, but given the severity of the fire, additional fire engines were summoned from Bhimana Garh and Udyog Vihar fire stations. More than 15 fire engines from all three stations worked tirelessly for two and a half to three hours, finally bringing the fire under control around 8:45 AM.
Significant Property Loss
The incident resulted in the complete destruction of most belongings within the shanties. The fire spread so rapidly that residents had no opportunity to salvage anything from their homes. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.
