Haryana MLAs to Receive Discounted Loans up to ₹1 Crore. Loans of ₹10 Lakh for Home Repairs, Medical Benefits for Dependents, and Family Pensioners.

Haryana MLAs Benefits: The Haryana government has announced significant relief for its MLAs, approving loans of up to ₹1 crore for purchasing homes or vehicles. An additional loan of ₹10 lakh is available for home repairs. Furthermore, medical benefits will be extended to the dependents of MLAs.

Healthcare Benefits Extended to Families of Former MLAs

In another significant change, the government has decreed that medical benefits will continue to be provided at government expense to the surviving spouse of an MLA or former MLA after their death. Previously, this benefit was limited to the MLA's term in office.

Bill Passed Unanimously in the Assembly

On Friday, the last day of the budget session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda introduced the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Member Facilities) Amendment Bill and the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Member Medical Facility) Amendment Bill in the House, both of which were passed without opposition.

₹20 Lakh Increase in Housing and Vehicle Loan Amount

Considering the rising inflation, the loan amount for housing and vehicles for MLAs has been increased by ₹20 lakh. This amount has now been merged, allowing MLAs to receive a loan of up to ₹1 crore in a lump sum or separately for housing and vehicles. Previously, the limit was ₹60 lakh for housing and ₹20 lakh for vehicles.

Loan Facility Available at 4% Interest Rate

The Assembly will provide these loans to MLAs at a mere 4% interest rate. The government has increased the loan limit and made it more flexible so that MLAs can utilize it according to their needs.

Medical Benefits for Family Pension Recipients

Previously, dependents of MLAs received family pension benefits but not medical facilities. Under the new law, dependents receiving pensions will now also receive healthcare benefits.

Six Significant Bills Also Passed in the Assembly

On Friday, the Haryana Legislative Assembly approved six bills, including the Haryana Appropriation (Number Two) Bill and the Haryana (Prisoner Exchange) Repeal Bill. This appropriation bill allows the state government to incur and appropriate a total of ₹2.58 lakh crore from the state's consolidated fund.

The Prisoner Exchange Repeal Bill, passed in the Assembly, abolishes a law enacted during the partition of India and Pakistan, as it is no longer considered necessary.
