Samajwadi Party and Congress Forge Shared Strategy Ahead of 2027 Uttar Pradesh Elections
Last Updated: 16 hour ago

Political activities are gradually intensifying in anticipation of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027. The Samajwadi Party and the Congress are currently working on a shared strategy.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's political landscape is shifting once again, with preparations underway for the 2027 Assembly elections. The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress have begun strategizing early. While no official alliance has been announced, their shared efforts to garner support from Brahmin, Dalit, and OBC communities are creating a buzz in political circles.

SP's 'Brahmin Card' Reactivated?

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, highlighting the arrest of former MLA Vinay Shankar Tiwari, has directly accused the Yogi government of caste discrimination. Photographs shared by Akhilesh on social media, depicting himself with the Tiwari family, aim to convey the message that Brahmins are being targeted by the ruling party.

Akhilesh Yadav's strategy is reminiscent of 2022, when the SP used Lord Parshuram to emotionally appeal to the Brahmin community. This approach is once again evident in the SP's current strategy.

Congress Focuses on 'Dalit Identity'

Meanwhile, Congress state president Ajay Rai has bly highlighted incidents in Basti, Ballia, and Azamgarh. By raising allegations of Dalit and women's oppression, the Congress is positioning itself as a sensitive and just alternative in UP. Rai recently stated from a Gujarat Congress platform that the deaths of Aadesh Upadhyay in Basti, Sunny Ram in Azamgarh, and Pooja Chauhan in Ballia are not ordinary; they are consequences of police brutality and governmental negligence.

Shared Agenda: Questioning BJP's Law and Order and Caste Balance

Although the SP and Congress are yet to formally announce an alliance, both parties are drawing voters' attention to the BJP's 'law and order' situation and alleged caste imbalance. Experts suggest that the SP-Congress strategy for 2027 will focus on caste justice, police repression, and alleged misuse of power to unite socially marginalized groups.

What is the Real Goal of this Strategy?

To erode the BJP's core vote bank by capitalizing on Brahmin discontent.
To provide the Congress with a new political space through Dalit oppression issues.
To regain the support of backward castes by employing emotional and social issues.

While the 2027 elections are still some time away, the political temperature is already rising. The SP and Congress's shared strategy is not only an attempt to create a united front against the BJP but also signals that the upcoming election will be a battle not just of development and promises, but also of social justice and identity.
