CM Yogi On Murshidabad: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath bly condemned the violence in Murshidabad and 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal. Addressing a public gathering in Hardoi, he stated, "Those who resort to violence won't be pacified by words; they need to be controlled with firm action." He accused the Bengal government and the TMC of calling the rioters 'peace envoys' and giving them free rein instead of taking action against them.
CM Yogi further stated, "If anyone prefers Bangladesh, they should go to Bangladesh. Such elements are a burden on the land of India." He also targeted the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, questioning their silence when attacks on minority Hindus occur.
Reasons Behind the Violence in Bengal
Protests against the Wakf (Amendment) Act in Murshidabad and Bhangar escalated into violence. Several vehicles were set ablaze, and pharmacies and malls were looted. Hundreds fled across the river to Malda district seeking refuge amidst the tense situation. On Sunday, the situation was so dire that roads were deserted and shops remained completely closed.
Central Intervention Improves the Situation
CM Yogi also stated, "I thank the court for ordering the deployment of central forces. This has ensured the safety of minority Hindus." He warned that such lawlessness will not be tolerated in the country and that the rule of law will be upheld at all costs.
