A special initiative linked to Uttar Pradesh’s Noida International Airport will see 170 farmers who provided land for the project travel to Lucknow on the first flight. During the visit, they will meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The programme is being viewed as an important occasion for the state government and those associated with the airport project.
All the farmers belong to villages that contributed land for the Jewar Airport project. The government’s objective is to engage directly with the farmers, acknowledge their role, and share experiences related to the project. The visit will also provide many of them with their first experience of air travel, generating considerable enthusiasm among participants.
During the programme, the Chief Minister may discuss the airport project, regional development and future plans with the farmers. They are also expected to be informed about potential opportunities for employment, investment and infrastructure development arising from the airport project.
Upon arrival in Lucknow, the farmers will be welcomed before participating in an interaction programme at the Chief Minister’s residence or another designated venue. Several farmers said they would be travelling by air for the first time and regarded the experience as a memorable moment in their lives.
The Jewar Airport project is regarded as one of the largest infrastructure projects in northern India. Once operational, it is expected to create new opportunities for industrial development, tourism and employment in western Uttar Pradesh.
Attention is currently focused on the interaction programme. It is believed that the Chief Minister will also hear suggestions from the farmers and share an outline of future development works related to the airport project. The programme is being viewed as a step towards strengthening dialogue between the government and farmers.
