The Olympic torch has always held a special place in my heart. It is a symbol of dreams, perseverance, and the unity brought to our world by sport."

He further added, "It is a great honor for me to get such an opportunity once again after winning a gold medal in the 10-meter air rifle event at the Beijing Olympics 2008. This serves as a beautiful reminder of what sports can truly make possible. I thank ‘MilanoCortina2026’ for this incredible honor."

The Winter Olympics 2026 will be the fourth Winter Games hosted by Italy. A total of 116 medal events across 16 sports will be held in this session, which is seven more than Beijing 2022. These games will provide a unique opportunity to showcase talent and skill on a global level.
