11 Police Personnel Suspended in UP After Viral Extortion Video from Overloaded Trucks

Following the viral video of illegal extortion from overloaded trucks and sand in Chitrakoot, Banda, and Kaushambi, 11 police personnel were immediately suspended. The DGP has sought a detailed report from all three districts.

Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot, Banda, and Kaushambi districts, after a video showing extortion from overloaded trucks and sand went viral on social media, DGP Rajeev Krishna has suspended 11 police personnel with immediate effect. This case is under discussion concerning illegal extortion and the role of the police.

Among the suspended police personnel are 1 Inspector, 1 Woman Sub-Inspector, 4 Male Sub-Inspectors, and 5 Constables. The DGP has sought a detailed report from all three districts, and the investigation into the matter is being pursued rigorously.

Seven Police Personnel Suspended in Chitrakoot

A total of seven police personnel have been suspended in Chitrakoot district. These include Inspector Manoj Kumar, in-charge of Bharatkoop police station; Constable Ranvir Singh; SO Anupama Tiwari (Sub-Inspector) of Pahari police station; Constable Shubham Dwivedi; SO Pankaj Tiwari (Sub-Inspector) of Rajapur police station; Sub-Inspector Imran Khan; and Constable Ajay Mishra.

SP Arun Kumar Singh stated that a detailed investigation into the matter has been entrusted to ASP Satyapal Singh, who is examining every aspect.

Suspensions Also in Banda and Kaushambi

In Banda district, Station House Officer (SHO) Badausa Kuldeep Kumar Tiwari (Sub-Inspector) and Constable Anurag Yadav were suspended. Meanwhile, from Kaushambi's Mahewaghat police station, SO Prabhunath Singh (Sub-Inspector) and Constable Shivam Singh were suspended. The investigation into the entire incident has been handed over to the Assistant Superintendent of Police.

This action has been taken to send a message that violations of law and rules will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Illegal Extortion Revealed in Viral Video

The viral video on social media clearly showed the pre-determined rates of extortion being carried out by police personnel in all three districts on overloaded trucks and sand, with varying amounts being collected from different police stations,

such as Rs 7,000 from Badausa police station; Rs 2,500 for gravel trucks and Rs 4,000 for sand trucks from Bharatkoop; Rs 2,500 from Pahari police station; Rs 4,000 from Rajapur; and Rs 3,000 per truck from Mahewaghat police station, causing widespread outrage and concern among the administration and the general public.
