Chaos erupted on the Ahmedabad-Howrah Express in Maharashtra's Wardha district when a minor dispute over a seat escalated into a violent fight. A verbal altercation between two passengers in the S-1 coach suddenly intensified to the point where both attacked each other with blades. Both were injured in the incident, and panic spread among the passengers.
Seat Dispute Turns Violent
On Sunday, Naresh Kumar Verma, a resident of Chhattisgarh, was seated in his reserved seat on the Ahmedabad-Howrah Express. Meanwhile, Ashish Misal boarded the train from Dhamangaon station and forcibly occupied his seat. When Naresh asked him to vacate the seat, an argument ensued, which quickly turned into a scuffle and then into an attack with a blade. Both passengers were injured in the blade attack, causing chaos among the other passengers in the coach.
Railway Police Takes Swift Action
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) swung into action. ASI Gajbhiye boarded the train from Pulgaon station immediately and took the accused, Ashish, into custody. Upon reaching Wardha station, the team led by RPF Inspector Chhedilal Kanojia, along with constable Preeti Sahare, took both injured passengers to the hospital. After first aid, they were handed over to the railway police for further legal action.
This incident has raised questions about the safety of passengers on the train. Passengers say that traveling with a sharp weapon like a blade on the train indicates serious negligence. The railway police are currently investigating the matter, and questioning of both passengers is underway.
