Anthropic Warns Advanced AI Systems May Help Develop Their Own Future Versions

According to Anthropic, this technological advancement could benefit fields such as science and healthcare, but it also makes ensuring security, accountability and effective governance more important than ever.

Anthropic said its AI model Claude is already being used for a range of software development and research-related tasks. The company disclosed that by May 2026, Claude had contributed to the creation of more than 80 percent of the code incorporated into its codebase.
