AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi met Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and demanded free electricity for mosques and dargahs and permission to hold processions on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. An appeal was made to the Telangana government for support in the religious event.
Telangana: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and demanded free electricity for mosques and dargahs on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi.
Permission has also been sought for decorations on September 5 and processions on September 14. AIMIM leaders appealed to the Chief Minister that the Muslim community should not face any electricity or administrative difficulties during the festival.
AIMIM Leaders Present in the Meeting
Asaduddin Owaisi's younger brother and AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi was also present in this meeting. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the main objective of the meeting was to make the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations smooth and peaceful for the community. Owaisi said that this festival is very important for the Muslim community and administrative support is needed for decorating mosques and dargahs and taking out processions during this period. He also told the government that providing free electricity and allowing processions will make the festival more joyous and safe.
Owaisi specifically urged that administrative permission be ensured for decorations on September 5 and for holding processions on September 14. He stated that this step would not only respect religious sentiments but also establish better coordination between the community and the administration.
Support for Religious Events in Telangana
This move by AIMIM in Telangana reflects the state government's supportive stance towards religious events. The state government already has a policy to promote religious and cultural events. Free electricity and administrative support can ensure that these events are conducted smoothly and safely.
Free Electricity for Ganesh Chaturthi in Andhra Pradesh
Similar to Telangana, the Andhra Pradesh government has also taken steps to support religious events. The state's Energy Minister G. Ravikumar informed that a budget of Rs 25 crore has been allocated this time to provide free electricity to approximately 15,000 Ganesh pandals for Ganesh Chaturthi. The minister said that the aim is to ensure that spiritual and cultural programs are conducted without any hindrance during Ganesh Chaturthi.
Energy Minister Criticizes Previous Government
Energy Minister G. Ravikumar criticized the previous YSRCP government, stating that the government plunged the state into heavy debt from 2019 to 2024 and misled the public through many incomplete schemes. He said that the current NDA coalition government is not only implementing welfare schemes but also focusing on wealth creation and social services.
Similar Approach in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
It can be seen that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are actively promoting religious events and ensuring support for communities. While in Telangana, Owaisi and the AIMIM team are demanding free electricity and permission for processions for mosques and dargahs for Milad-un-Nabi, the Andhra Pradesh government is providing free electricity to pandals during Ganesh Chaturthi.
