In Uttar Pradesh, Panchayat elections are scheduled for next year, followed by Assembly elections in 2027. Besides the BJP and the Samajwadi Party (SP), other parties have also begun formulating their strategies.
Lucknow: Political activity in Uttar Pradesh has intensified ahead of the upcoming Panchayat and Assembly elections. In this context, Azad Samaj Party (ASP) chief and MP from Nagina, Chandrashekhar Azad, has clarified that his party will not join any alliance that does not align with its ideology. He stated that they would not form alliances with "traitors" and would contest the upcoming elections with full force.
Alliance to be Decided After Panchayat Elections
In an interview with a prominent news channel, Chandrashekhar Azad said, "The decision on who we will ally with will be made only after the results of the Panchayat elections next year are declared. We will only collaborate with parties that share our views and agenda. We will not move forward with those who have betrayed us in the past."
He clarified that his party would not compromise for political gain. Their focus will remain on strengthening the organization, increasing grassroots support, and pursuing ideology-based politics.
'Will Not Be Deceived' - Chandrashekhar Azad
Chandrashekhar Azad stated that in the 2027 Assembly elections, he will not be deceived due to any political compromise. He believes that in the past, he has often faced promises that were not fulfilled after the elections. Therefore, this time he will proceed with strategic and well-considered steps. He added, "Our party will contest the Panchayat elections with full strength. The results will clearly show that the public stands with us. The strategy for the Assembly elections will be decided thereafter."
It is noteworthy that before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Chandrashekhar Azad had sought an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP), but the negotiations did not materialize. Following this, he contested the elections independently and achieved a remarkable victory from the Nagina seat, which was considered proof of his political influence. Chandrashekhar said that his party will now adopt a completely independent strategy and will focus on local issues to garner public support.
Panchayat Elections Will Showcase Strength
Chandrashekhar Azad explained that the Panchayat elections present a significant opportunity for organizational expansion and gathering grassroots support. He said that the results of the Panchayat elections will indicate how b the Azad Samaj Party has become. These results will play a crucial role in determining future strategies. Chandrashekhar also clarified that his objective is not merely electoral victory, but to raise the voice of the marginalized sections of society – Dalits, Other Backward Classes, and the deprived.
He said, "We will not be a part of any alliance that compromises our ideals. We need to walk with those who believe in social justice, equal opportunities, and politics of respect."
