Stokes' Injury

Stokes appeared to be in pain after bowling the fourth ball of his second over when play began on Wednesday. It was the fourth ball of his 28th over. The England Cricket Board stated that Stokes has pain in his right adductor muscle and that investigations are ongoing. The board has promised to provide an update on the matter soon.

Stokes' career has been plagued by injuries. This is the fourth time in the last 18 months that he has been injured. This is the fourth consecutive series in which he has suffered an injury. Stokes was also injured during The Hundred tournament in August 2024 and was unable to play in the home series against Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he was ruled out of the first Test against Pakistan.

In December 2024, he suffered a hamstring injury in the third Test of the New Zealand tour. He was also forced to miss the fifth Test against India due to a shoulder injury. Therefore, Stokes’ current injury is a serious sign for England. The team will have to see if he will be able to bat or bowl in the second innings.

Sydney Test Update

England's first innings was dismissed for 384 runs, giving Australia a lead of 183 runs. This has increased the pressure on England, and the absence of captain Stokes could affect the team's strategy.

England's batting will now have to be handled by other players in the team. The challenge will be even greater for the team when the absence of Stokes' bowling is also felt. The lack of his experience and leadership could prove to be a crucial turning point for the team.
