A new controversy has erupted in Bihar politics regarding double EPIC numbers. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has claimed that NDA MP Veena Devi from Vaishali possesses two voter cards, with different ages and constituencies registered on each. This matter raises questions about the Election Commission and the SIR process.
Bihar: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has accused NDA MP Veena Devi from Vaishali of possessing two separate EPIC cards. According to him, the first EPIC number was issued from the Muzaffarpur Assembly constituency and the second from the Sahebganj Assembly constituency, with the MP's age and Lok Sabha constituency recorded differently on each. Tejashwi questioned how two different signatures appeared on two separate forms during voter list revision. This has intensified the political debate about the SIR process and the impartiality of the Election Commission.
Political Dispute Escalates with Veena Devi's Two EPIC Cards
The political battle over voter cards and EPIC numbers in Bihar politics has intensified. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has claimed that NDA MP Veena Devi from Vaishali possesses two different voter cards. After the voter list revision, her name is registered in the Sahebganj and Muzaffarpur assembly constituencies of Muzaffarpur district. Tejashwi Yadav described this as a serious political issue, stating that it raises questions about the transparency of the election process.
Tejashwi shared both EPIC numbers on social media and questioned the Election Commission about how the MP ended up with two votes in the new draft voter list, with two different ages and two different Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies. The first EPIC number, GSB1037894, was issued from the Muzaffarpur Assembly constituency, and the second EPIC number, UTO1134543, was issued from the Sahebganj Assembly constituency.
Two Separate Forms in SIR and Confirmation from the Commission
Tejashwi Yadav says that MP Veena Devi filled out two separate calculation forms in the SIR (Special Issue Register). The Election Commission has confirmed on these forms that the MP herself signed them. However, the fact that she has two votes with two separate EPIC cards, two different Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies, and different ages has created a new controversy in Bihar politics.
The RJD leader described this as a potential rigging and collusion to benefit the BJP-NDA. Tejashwi is now in a mood for a decisive confrontation on this issue and has once again threatened to boycott the elections.
Double EPIC Numbers Have Surfaced Before
Earlier on Wednesday, Tejashwi Yadav also claimed that BJP Mayor of Muzaffarpur, Nirmala Devi, and her family members also possess two EPIC cards each. Following his allegations, the Election Commission took action, issuing a notice to Nirmala Devi and asking her to respond within 4 days. This makes it clear that serious discussions are ongoing at both the political and administrative levels in Bihar regarding the issue of double EPIC cards.
