Just before the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections in 2025, the state has received a significant boost in railway development. On Monday, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary from Patna Junction and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from New Delhi virtually flagged off seven new trains.
Patna: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP has intensified its election preparations by launching an 'election rail' initiative. On Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary from Patna Junction and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from New Delhi virtually flagged off a total of seven new trains, including three new Amrit Bharat Express trains, dedicating them to the people of Bihar. The objective of this initiative is to enhance railway facilities in the state and strengthen the party's image among the public.
Information on New Trains
The newly launched Amrit Bharat Express trains cover these major routes:
- Muzaffarpur-Charlapalli
- Darbhanga-Madar
- Chhapra-Anand Vihar
The operation of these trains will make travel to South India and Delhi more convenient. Passengers will now experience faster and more comfortable journeys.
Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Under the Ministry of Railways' Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, work is underway to equip 98 stations in Bihar with modern and world-class facilities. The estimated cost of this project is approximately 3,164 crore rupees. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary stated, "Railways are the backbone of Bihar's development. They will play a crucial role in taking the state to new heights in the coming years."

Specifically, the operation of trains on the Sheikhpura-Barbigha-Bihar Sharif railway section was a long-cherished dream of the people in the region, which has now come true. Samrat Chaudhary informed that the Amrit Bharat Express symbolizes modern amenities and affordable travel. With the operation of these new trains, a total of 13 Amrit Bharat Express trains are now running in Bihar.
He added, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the cooperation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, railway development in Bihar is getting a new direction." The Amrit Bharat Express features a total of 22 coaches for passengers, including sleeper class, general second class, pantry car, and LSLRD coaches. Notably, it has been specially designed keeping in mind the convenience of middle-class passengers.
