Shocking revelations have emerged from the scrutiny of Bihar's voter list. Infiltrators from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar have also been found in the list. The commission has intensified its investigation and begun the process of removing their names.
Bihar Assembly Election: Before the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, significant irregularities are surfacing during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The initial investigation, launched by the Election Commission, has revealed that the state's voter list includes individuals who have illegally entered from neighboring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. This information has come to light from highly-placed sources within the commission itself.
BLO's Report Confirms Foreign Nationals
During this revision, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have conducted door-to-door verification of voters. During this process, several cases have come to light where individuals registered in the voter list were not found to be Indian citizens. BLOs have encountered a large number of people who have illegally entered India from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar and are residing in various areas of Bihar.
Draft List to be Released on August 1st
According to the Election Commission, the draft voter list will be published on August 1, 2025. The names of those whose citizenship cannot be verified will not be included in this list. After a detailed investigation of these suspect names, the final voter list will be released on September 30, 2025. This final list will be considered valid for the upcoming elections.
80 Percent of Voters Have Provided Required Details
Under this revision campaign, more than 80 percent of the registered voters in Bihar have so far submitted their information to the commission. This includes details such as name, address, date of birth, Aadhaar number, and voter ID number. The commission has set July 25, 2025, as the deadline for this process. Officials are hopeful that this work will be completed before the set deadline.
What to do if Your Name is Not Included?
If an individual's name is not included in the draft voter list to be released on August 1, there is no need to panic. Such individuals can file a claim with supporting documents before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), then the District Election Officer, and finally, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state. If the claim is found to be valid, the concerned person's name will be included in the final list.
Preparation to Remove Names Under Legal Process
The Election Commission has clarified that the process of removing a name from the voter list will be entirely legal and based on documentation. The citizenship of illegal infiltrators will be investigated before their names are removed. Those who do not possess valid Indian citizenship documents will have their names removed from the voter list. This step is considered essential to ensure a transparent election process.
