Bihar Voter List Revision Sparks Political Debate Within NDA

In Bihar, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of the voter list ahead of the assembly elections has stirred up the state's politics. While the opposition is targeting the government regarding this campaign, dissenting voices are now being heard within the NDA as well. JDU MLA Sanjeev Singh and MP Giridhari Yadav have raised questions about the campaign's process, while LJP (Ram Vilas) has adopted a restrained approach. Now, the BJP has openly reacted to this and has advised both the opposition and its allied parties.

BJP's Blunt Statement: SIR is Necessary Against Fraud

On Thursday, July 24, Bihar BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra, regarding the ongoing controversy over SIR, said that this step is necessary to remove fake voters. He said that the opposition's opposition to this campaign is their political compulsion because their strategy is failing due to transparency. On the comments of JDU leaders, he said that MP Giridhari Yadav and MLA Sanjeev Singh are probably confused and they should clarify the situation by talking to senior leaders of the party.

Prabhakar Mishra also said that initiatives like SIR strengthen the path towards fair elections, and only those who want to benefit from irregularities in the voter list are opposing it. He said that this opposition is just political theatrics to divert attention from the real issues.

Trust in NDA Unity

Despite this controversy, the BJP spokesperson described the NDA's unity as b. He said that the statements of some JDU leaders are their internal matter, and the party leadership will soon make them aware of the situation. He claimed that there is no rift in the NDA and this unity will ensure a majority for the alliance in the upcoming assembly elections.

Attacking the opposition, Mishra said that parties like RJD and Congress were preparing to win elections on the strength of a fake voter base, but this initiative of the Election Commission has caused them to lose ground. He alleged that this is the reason why these parties are protesting wearing black clothes and trying to portray it as protecting democracy.

LJP's Balanced Approach

In this whole matter, Chirag Paswan's party LJP (Ram Vilas) has given a balanced and restrained statement. Party spokesperson Shashi Bhushan Prasad said that the Election Commission is a constitutional body and all parties should avoid interfering in its work. He said that the final results of the SIR process should be awaited.

Taking a dig at JDU leaders, Shashi Bhushan said that Sanjeev Singh and Giridhari Yadav are probably confused. He clarified that if the name of any real voter is missed in the final list, then LJP will also raise its voice on this and if needed, demand elections on the old voter list. But for the time being, avoiding rhetoric, the Election Commission should be allowed to function independently.

JDU Also Raised Questions

On this issue, JDU MLA Sanjeev Singh expressed concern that if the names of people who have gone out for employment and cannot take leave for six months are removed from the voter list, then it is unfortunate. At the same time, MP Giridhari Yadav questioned the election process itself, saying that if the voter list prepared for the Lok Sabha elections was correct, then how can the same list be wrong for the assembly elections after a few months?

Giridhari Yadav said that if there was a discrepancy in the voter list, then it means that he himself was elected as an MP through a wrong process, which raises questions on the validity of the entire election system.

The politics of Bihar is heated regarding the SIR campaign. While the BJP considers it an important step towards transparency and fairness, voices of disagreement are emerging from within the allied parties. Now everyone's eyes are on the final list of the Election Commission and the reactions of the political parties to it.
