A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, where a crocodile hiding in the bushes attacked a woman and killed her. The woman was grazing cattle when this tragic accident occurred. A horrifying video of the entire incident has also surfaced, which is rapidly going viral on social media.
Crocodile Emerges from Bushes and Attacks Suddenly
The incident is reported to have taken place in the Chahalwa village and Nishadnagar area of the Katarniaghat forest region. On Friday evening, 55-year-old Lakshmina Devi, wife of Kallu, was grazing cattle near the Saryu canal near the village. At that moment, a giant crocodile hiding in the bushes suddenly attacked her. According to the villagers, the crocodile grabbed the woman in its jaws and dragged her into the canal.
Hearing the woman's screams, people nearby rushed to the spot, but by then the crocodile had dragged the woman a considerable distance. It is reported that the crocodile took the woman about 500 meters away, near the Chaman Chauraha market.
Villagers Showed Bravery
After the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the scene. Showing courage, they got into the canal and chased away the crocodile, and with the help of a net, pulled the woman's body out of its jaws. However, the woman had already died.
Local people say that as soon as they received news of the incident, they rushed towards the canal with nets. The crocodile kept running away seeing the villagers, but after a lot of effort, the body was recovered. After the incident, a huge crowd of people gathered on the canal bridge, and an atmosphere of panic spread throughout the area.
Forest Department and Police on the Spot
Upon receiving the information, Forest Department Ranger Abdul Salam reached the spot and advised people to remain vigilant. At the same time, the villagers also informed the local police about this incident.
After this painful accident, there is mourning in the family of the deceased woman. The family members are in shock and the villagers are also frightened. The villagers have demanded that the administration control the increasing number of crocodiles in the area, so that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
