After Deepika Kakar's liver cancer surgery, she will now undergo targeted therapy, which will last for two years. Shoaib Ibrahim mentioned that side effects from the therapy are possible, but both are facing this challenge with a positive mindset.
Dipika Kakar: Popular television actress Dipika Kakar is currently going through one of the most difficult phases of her life. Dipika, who gained recognition from the show 'Sasural Simar Ka', has been diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer. Although she underwent successful surgery on June 2, she will now have to undergo targeted therapy. This information was shared by her husband and actor Shoaib Ibrahim in a recent vlog.
The second phase of treatment after surgery
It has been a month since Deepika's liver cancer surgery, and the doctors have now advised her to undergo targeted therapy for the next phase of treatment. This therapy will last for at least one to two years. Shoaib said that Deepika's condition is stable after the surgery and she is recovering gradually, but the biopsy report and PET scan for cancer have shown some concerning signs.
Shoaib said, "Although there are currently no cancer cells in the body, doctors believe that the cancer may return. In such a situation, targeted therapy is the most appropriate solution."
What is targeted therapy?
Targeted therapy is a special type of cancer treatment in which only cancer cells are targeted after being identified. This therapy is different from chemotherapy and usually has fewer side effects. Shoaib said that chemotherapy is not that effective in cases of liver cancer, so the doctors offered immunotherapy and targeted therapy as options, of which they chose the latter.
Dipika will have to take these medicines at home daily. If the cancer becomes active again in the future, then changes in the dosage of the medicine or the treatment method are possible.
Shoaib shared his mental state
In his vlog, Shoaib recalled the painful day when Deepika's surgery was taking place. "The day of June 3 was the most difficult day of my life. I was sitting outside the operation theater and praying every minute. Even after a month, I haven't been able to forget that wait," he said emotionally.
Now that it has been a month since the surgery, both Shoaib and Deepika are in contact with the doctors and are completely cautious about the treatment.
Deepika's concern and courage
Dipika said in the vlog that she is concerned about the side effects of targeted therapy, but she is trying to become mentally b. She said, "After the surgery, weakness is felt in the body, but I will not give up. My priority is my health, and I will face every difficulty with Shoaib."
Changes in lifestyle are necessary
Doctors have given Deepika special instructions—such as not doing yoga, avoiding weightlifting, and eating only home-cooked food. Also, she has been advised to walk daily to keep the body active. Shoaib said that they are also making changes in their lifestyle so that Deepika can recover as soon as possible.
Scans mandatory every three months
Now, for the next two years, Deepika will have to get scans done every three months. The team of doctors will analyze each of her reports and changes will be made in the treatment accordingly. Shoaib also said that he hopes that things will return to normal after the next two years and Deepika will be completely healthy.
Appeal to fans: Include in prayers
Shoaib and Deepika have requested their fans to pray for them during this difficult time. Both have thanked the fans for the support they are receiving on social media and have said that a positive attitude is the biggest weapon to win this fight.
