The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted searches at the residence of Bareilly-based businessman Ashutosh Agarwal in connection with a money laundering investigation. The action is part of a coordinated search operation being carried out simultaneously across multiple locations in Punjab, Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh. The agency is examining documents related to financial transactions and assets.
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday launched simultaneous search operations in several states as part of an investigation into suspected money laundering cases. According to officials, action was carried out at six locations, including Ludhiana and Jalandhar in Punjab, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, and the Delhi-Noida region.
Investigation teams targeted residential and commercial premises linked to individuals and companies that have come under the agency’s scrutiny. The objective of the operation is to collect evidence related to financial transactions and possible economic irregularities.
An ED team also arrived in the morning at the residence of Ashutosh Agarwal, a businessman associated with the I Crust Store, located in the Civil Lines area of Bareilly. According to sources, the team began its examination after entering the premises and reviewed relevant documents and electronic records.
During the operation, movement within the premises was restricted. The team is also reported to have taken possession of information related to communication devices and records to prevent any impact on the investigation.
The ED’s investigation is primarily focused on financial transactions, business activities and records related to assets. Officials expect that documents or digital evidence recovered during the searches could assist in the ongoing investigation.
However, the agency has not yet issued a detailed official statement regarding the case. As a result, the findings of the investigation and any potential allegations remain unclear at this stage.
Local police personnel were deployed at the site during the searches to prevent any untoward incidents. Officials maintained security around the premises and provided necessary assistance to the investigation agency.
According to sources, the search operation may continue for several hours, and documents and electronic devices may be seized for examination if required. Further action in the case will be determined on the basis of the ED’s investigation report and the evidence collected.
