Increased Security at Disputed Fatehpur Mausoleum Ahead of Janmashtami

Security has been increased around the disputed mausoleum in Fatehpur ahead of Janmashtami. Following inflammatory posts going viral on social media and attempts to gather people, the administration has registered three FIRs and initiated strict action. Security has been ensured with additional police force and barricading.

Uttar Pradesh: Security has been tightened around the disputed mausoleum in Fatehpur ahead of Janmashtami 2025. The administration took this step after inflammatory posts went viral on social media and incited people to gather at the site. Police have registered three FIRs against Mohammad Muzaffar Imran, Akhand Pratap Singh, and unknown accused. Additional police force, Provincial Armed Constabulary, and reserve forces have been deployed, along with a three-layer barricade at the site to prevent any untoward incident.

Strict Action Against Accused

Fatehpur Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Tarkeshwar Rai stated that three FIRs have been registered in this matter so far. Mohammad Muzaffar Imran and Akhand Pratap Singh have been named in these, while a case has also been registered against unknown accused.

Imran has been charged under IPC sections 153 and 353, along with section 66 of the IT Act. Meanwhile, Akhand Pratap Singh has been booked under IPC sections 196, 353, and section 66 of the IT Act. The third FIR against unknown accused has been registered under IPC sections 191, 353, and section 66 of the IT Act.

Administration Issues Notice to People Associated with Mausoleum

The district administration has issued notices to people associated with the mausoleum, leaders, and senior members of both communities, giving strict instructions to maintain law and order. The notice states that they must not be involved in any illegal activities and must also prevent their supporters from any inflammatory actions.

Officials have clarified that strict legal action will be taken against anyone spreading inflammatory content. The aim of this step is to maintain law and order during Janmashtami and prevent any untoward incident.

Security and Barricading Arrangements for Janmashtami

Due to the planned Kirtan event by Hindu organizations on the occasion of Janmashtami on August 16, the administration has deployed a three-tier barricading and additional police force. The Provincial Armed Police Force and reserve force have also been deployed for security. Based on intelligence information, strict prohibitory orders have been imposed on all ceremonies, processions, and protests related to the mausoleum site.
