Fatima Sana Shaikh: Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Shaikh has made a poignant and courageous revelation during the promotion of her upcoming films ‘Metro In Dino’ and ‘You Just Like Me’. She has openly discussed her epilepsy (Epilepsy) for the first time, sharing a terrifying incident that shook her career and life.

Felt Multiple Seizures on a Flight, I Was Very Scared

‘In a conversation with ‘Humans of Bombay’, Fatima revealed that during a trip to America, she experienced multiple seizures on a flight from Dubai. She said, “I had multiple seizures on the flight. I was taken to the airport hospital, given medication, but it didn’t work. I had to give me a high dose. At that time, I was working on two films, but I had to cancel the shooting. I was so sick that I couldn’t even get out of bed.”

Fatima explained that this period was extremely challenging for her, both mentally and physically. Seeing the opportunity slip away, she began to cry and felt helpless.

I Had to Accept It Finally

This incident brought a significant change in Fatima’s thinking. She said, “At that time, I realized that this was now my reality. This is my illness and I need to accept it, not hide it.” She added that she felt that if her story could help someone, she should share it.

Fatima explained that there are still misconceptions and stigma associated with epilepsy in society today. People tend to think of them as mentally weak or ignore the disease. She also spoke about children and young people who are struggling with epilepsy but are not receiving education, treatment, and social support.

She said that some children have seizures multiple times a day, but neither receive necessary treatment nor special support in education. It’s heartbreaking. I am fortunate to have received facilities, but not everyone does. She emphasized the need to spread awareness about epilepsy and said that if her story could inspire anyone, it would be her greatest victory.
