Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has received relief in the controversy surrounding the film “Don 3,” as the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has withdrawn with immediate effect the “non-cooperation directive” that had been issued against him. The decision follows a dispute that generated significant discussion within the film industry and among production stakeholders.
The controversy was linked to “Don 3,” which is being produced under Excel Entertainment, the production house led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Ranveer Singh had been cast in the lead role for the film but later decided to step away from the project. According to the production team, the decision affected the film’s preparations and budget, allegedly resulting in financial losses amounting to several crores of rupees. Following the development, a complaint was reportedly filed with FWICE by Farhan Akhtar.
After reviewing the complaint, FWICE initially imposed a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. Under the order, various industry technicians and union members were expected not to cooperate with the actor. However, the directive faced criticism from several members and organisations within the film industry. A number of artists and producers reportedly described the measure as excessively harsh and called for a reconsideration of the decision.
At a press conference held in Mumbai on Wednesday, the FWICE president officially announced the withdrawal of the non-cooperation directive issued against Ranveer Singh. The organisation stated that any further action would be considered only after discussions with all concerned parties. FWICE also clarified that its objective is to maintain cooperation and balance within the industry rather than interfere with any artist’s career.
During the dispute, Ranveer Singh reportedly challenged FWICE’s decision. According to reports, he also sent a legal notice to the organisation, describing the directive against him as unjustified. Reports further indicated that legal pressure and reactions from within the industry contributed to FWICE’s decision to revoke the order.
